Broncs Drop Heartbreaker at Cimarron
In a matchup between two unbeatens, the Lakin Broncs lost to the Bluejays
on Friday night by the score of 17-14. Cimarron jumped in front on their first
possession to lead early 8-0, but the Broncs would answer with a two yard
run by Servando Gonzalez, along with a Kayden Christiansen conversion to
tie it at eight apiece. That would be the score at the break. Cimarron
regained the lead in the third on a scoring pass, but failed on the conversion
to lead 14-8. Lakin tied it up in the fourth quarter on a two yard run by
Christiansen, setting up the dramatic finish. The Bluejays went back in front
with 1:51 remaining on a 33 yard field goal. On their ensuing possession,
the Broncs then drove to the Cimarron 20 yard line and with three seconds
remaining attempted a 37 yard field goal by Caique Gallo. The kick was
long enough but wide left as the Broncs suffered their first loss of the
season. Lakin heads to Sterling next Friday.
